IJMB means Interim Joint Matriculation Board is a nine months Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria moderated Advanced Level (A'Level) programme. IJMB is a federal government programme approved programme, IJMB is moderated by Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria and IJMB is certified by Nigerian University Commission (NUC). IJMB is designed to solve admission menace of candidates as an alternative mode of gaining admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria into 200 level via Direct Entry (D.E) without UTME/JAMB and other related modes of entry. The full meaning of IJMB is Interim Joint Matriculation Board รข€“ it is a program that has been fully certified and the IJMB examination is called IJMBE which is Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination, IJMBE was held first in the year 1977 after the first IJMB started in the year 1976.

Admission into higher institution in nigeria has been an unending issues as students await UTME year after year hoping the next UTME might be the possible solution to their admission related issue, however, national estimation has shown that UTME is not the best alternative for securing admission stating that only 20% of the annual UTME candidates ends up securing admission successfully with the Post UTME as Post UTME has been proved to be another barrier to securing admission into university, this simply means yearly, only 320,000 out of every 1,600,000 JAMB(UTME) aspirants gain admission successfully, however it has been proven that IJMB is best alternative.


IJMB is an approved 9 month programme by Federal Government as a platform for securing university admission into any university in Nigeria and abroad, IJMB is moderated by Ahmadu Bello University ABU Zaria with various Study Centres Nationwide.IJMB has been designed to serve as an alternative to university admission, as it requires no JAMB nor post UTME, Also Awaiting result candidate can apply. All its requires is your o'level result be it Waec, neco, nabteb etc (5 credit one sitting,and 6 credit two sittings).


Statistics has proven that annually, 20,000 applicants put in for the programme and over 15,000 candidates secure admission with it into 200 level to their preferred university & course giving of a success story of over 75% of the applicants as compared to JAMB which close to 1.6 million applicants sit for and just 20% fraction get admitted


IJMB is fully certified by Nigeria University Commission (NUC) as an A'level programme that serves as a mode of entry into the university today, statistically as its provides a unique platform for realizing the dream of university education-even in a more efficient way than. Interested IJMB Candidate are expected to select any THREE (3) A/L SUBJECTS (English Compulsory) related to their course of study in the university. Candidates would then be lectured on these subjects for a period of 9month and then write the final examination. On completion of the programme, Candidates therefore use their IJMB result to secure admission into 200 level in any Nigeria university via Direct Entry. IJMB is presently accepted in 80% of Nigerian Universities, It has been estimated that 80% of IJMB applicants scores over 6 points annually and 70% uses it as their gateway into 200 level. Only a dullard student will not make 6points out total of 15point criteria for crossing the hurdle into 200 Level.
